What an incredible week!

We were thrilled to host Dr. Jim Coughlin (aka Gumbo) in Tampa for his first visit since joining our team, and it was nothing short of amazing.

Tuesday: We kicked things off with dinner at the iconic Columbia Restaurant, giving Gumbo a true taste of Tampa.

Wednesday: The day was packed with inspiration and networking! We attended the AFCEA Central Florida luncheon, where we had the honor of hearing SMA(R) Jack Tilley speak—and Gumbo even won the raffle! Later, we celebrated Akima's ribbon cutting at their stunning new office on Rocky Point Dr.

Thursday: After a delicious lunch at Bahama Breeze, we joined AFCEA for the Tampa Bay Lightning game. It was electric watching the Bolts take down a #1 team in the NHL!

Friday: We wrapped up the week with our morning meeting, complete with birthday celebrations for Nathan Espey and our signature Aloha Friday vibes.

This week was a perfect blend of meaningful connections, forming new relationships, and making unforgettable memories. Here’s to many more weeks like this one!

In light of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, we are reminded of the critical role communication plays in disaster response and recovery. With communities stranded and emergency resources stretched thin, maintaining connectivity becomes essential.

When hurricanes or other natural disasters hit, traditional communication systems can fail—whether it’s due to power outages, damaged infrastructure, or overwhelmed networks. This is where communication redundancy comes into play. Technologies like satellite phones, backup internet systems, and mobile networks provide essential alternatives, allowing rescue teams to coordinate efforts and ensuring families can stay connected with loved ones.

In both Florida and North Carolina, the prompt response by commercial satellite providers gave the emergent connectivity needed to connect displaced residents with loved ones, allow first responders to communicate, and guide needed supplies and support entities to the right place, at the right time, with the right items.

In this pivotal role, Dr. Coughlin will drive our strategic vision, technology initiatives, and change management efforts, ensuring Cadence Coalition is well-positioned for growth and innovation. He will align our organizational goals with long-term business objectives, champion the pursuit of contracts, and spearhead collaborations with academic institutions and strategic partners in the Intelligence, R&D, and Emerging Technology sectors. Dr. Coughlin joins us after an illustrious 25-year career in the U.S. Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Colonel and served in leadership roles, including as Chief Information Officer and Director of Communications for the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). With a wealth of experience in cyber operations, network security, and leading forces in joint operations, he brings unmatched expertise to his new role. Dr. Coughlin is also a seasoned educator, holding multiple advanced degrees, including a Doctorate in Leadership and Management. His commitment to mentorship, both professionally and in his community, combined with his strategic insight, will greatly enhance our efforts to differentiate Cadence Coalition in the marketplace and expand our capabilities in emerging technologies. 🚨 UPDATE: Appalachia Central Relief Hub Launch 🚨We're happy to announce that we just launched a communication/logistics initiative: Appalachia Central Relief Hub, designed to streamline disaster relief across the Appalachian Mountain Region and collaborate with organizations doing great things. Our goal is to enhance their operations by simplifying logistics, avoid overwhelming volunteer organizations, and ensure critical aid reaches those in need quickly and efficiently. Cadence Coalition LLC will support as a liaison to streamline these initiatives, to help these folks who are working tirelessly around the clock. We kindly request that interested volunteers would take the time to submit a form so we can add it to a master spreadsheet to distribute to these volunteer organizations and work with NGOs for support. Tragically, over 10 people have lost their lives, and approximately 1,000 are still unaccounted for in Buncombe County (ABC 13 News).Despite the enormity of this disaster, it has not received the media attention or government relief it desperately needs. I had a great experience attending the AFCEA Lexington-Concord New Horizons conference in Boston, MA learning about our Air Force’s National Security Ecosystem and posture with fantastic speakers and panels from Government, industry partners, and academia focusing on preparing our US Air Force to be leaders in innovation. We had the privilege of judging the 18th Congressional District App Challenge, where Lakeland high schools competed in creating a concept and developing an application.Congrats to McKeel Academy for their winning team! We're passionate about nurturing STEM talent, and it was amazing to see Congressman Franklin Scott recognizing their achievement.We'd like to acknowledge the mentors and academic professionals who supported these programs. Your dedication is invaluable in shaping the next generation of STEM leaders. We also want to highlight AFCEA Central Florida Chapter and Dan Holland who leads their Cyber Outreach Program, which helps fund these programs, for their contribution to STEM education.
